Did you know that fungi are the most ancient organisms on the planet? They were the first organisms to inhabit the Earth, more than 1.3 billion years ago. There have been some fascinating discoveries about fungi in the recent years. Mycologist Paul Stamets claims:
"Fungi are the interface of organisms between life and death - without them, all ecosystems would fail."

They are amazing, aren't they?

Marvellous photo.  Beautiful composition.   The mushrooms in the front are so sharp that they almost seem to pop out the picture.

Thank you :)
Actually, they truly are in a way. They were the first living organism ever to inhabit Earth. Plants came about 500 million years later.
Plants that established a symbiotic relationship with fungi survived through the various calamities the planet has endured.
Fungi fertilize the land and create the perfect conditions for plants. Many types of fungi have underground networks covering many kilometers, sort of like the nature's internet. They can sense and communicate about the conditions of the land, and adapt. It's pretty amazing. Look up Paul Stamets on youtube to watch his TED talks.
